Always fill your “Why Cup”
Two of my favorite people in the world, Bruce and Mindy Mylrea, always talk about the importance of filling your "why cup." Basically it means that you should always be seeking additional knowledge to support you in your endeavors. Whether it is a book, a magazine, a documentary or a podcast, seeking to improve you knowledge is never a bad thing. Personally, I love to read nutrition books so I have highlighted a couple of good ones that I've read recently.
Eating on the Wild Side by Jo Robinson
This book delves into how our food has changed over centuries and has gone from more to less nutritious. While the food is less nutritious we can pick varieties of produce in stores that will yield the biggest bang for our nutritional buck. The author also gives you a lot of helpful hints on how to best store your produce so you won't waste money with it going bad before you can eat it. Pick a copy up and use this valuable resource to shop smart in today's grocery stores.
The Starch Solution by John A. McDougall, MD
Have you been avoiding starchy foods at all costs because you've been told they will make you gain weight? This book debunks this myth and explains why the healthiest and longest lived societies actually eat most of their calories from starchy foods. Yes, you can eat that rice and baked potatoes again without feeling guilty! You just can't load it with oil and butter! Sorry!
