Number One Tip to a Healthier You

What if I told you I could give you one tip and it would change your health dramatically.  You probably wouldnn’t believe me but it’s true!  That one tip is to BE PREPARED!

When we are prepared those little stumbling blocks in our lives that cause us to abandon our good intentions of eating healthy keep coming up again and again.  If we plan and prepare for those inevitable events then we stay on the right track.  Take for example a busy mom who has kids to run in several different directions from 4 until 7.  She finally gets home, the entire family is exhausted and they are all starving.  The fastest solution is to order a pizza.  There is no way she has the makings of a meal in the refrigerator nor the energy to fix a meal even if she did.  If this mom had taken the time to prepare then things could have gone differently.  Here are a few suggestions to make your week a little healthier for you and your family.

  1. Take the time during the weekend to plan meals for the week taking into acount the nights you may not have a lot of time to prepare a meal or the days you may be eating on the run.  There are fabulous crock pot meals and make ahead freezer meals that can be done in advance when you do have time.

  2.  Use that meal plan to grocery shop once or twice a week.  If you compile a complete list then you save yourself time by not having  to make numerous trips to the grocery store for the things you forgot.  Efficiency experts agree that if you can keep the trips to 1-2 a week you will not only save yourself time but money as well!

  3. Take 30-40 minutes after your shopping trip to prep vegetables and place them in containers.  This way you always have healthy options available when you’re hungry.  One of the reasons we reach for processed food is that it is readily available.  If we prep healthy foods then they are accessible and more likely to be eaten!
